Chiva-Som Health Resort - Bangkok Thailand

At Chiva-Som, the pace of life is up to you. You can stay engaged and entertained by participating in the art classes, fruit-carving demonstrations, beauty workshops, Thai boxing or sea kayaking that are all on offer, but equally you might just want to relax between health treatments and set a gentler pace.

With 57 rooms spread across seven acres of beachside tropical gardens, Chiva-Som - or Haven of Life - is dedicated to your well-being. Situated on the Gulf of Siam in the Thai royal resort of Hua Hin, when it opened it was Asia's first dedicated spa resort, and its classes and treatments reflect the Asian emphasis on spiritual and physical health in a region where bathing rituals, traditional massages and two of the oldest medical disciplines - Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines - first took root.

There are more than 50 treatments to choose from - among them equilobropathy, an alternative acupuncture therapy which can be used to tackle ailments ranging from asthma to arthritis.
